Buddy Murphy was a highlight in 205 Live where he put on excellent matches on a weekly basis. Murphy would eventually move to the main roster where he floundered after a while. He was eventually released back in June of last year after few programs with Seth Rollins and Aalyah Mysterio that didn’t go anywhere.

Murphy changed his name to Buddy Matthews and competed in numerous promotions such as NJPW and others. This included his excellent match against Kazuchika Okada. Now he is All Elite after making his AEW debut as part of Malakai Black’s House of Black stable.

During the final months of his WWE run, Buddy Matthews was involved with Seth Rollins. Eventually, they started feuding, where Matthews was victorious in the end.

While speaking on his podcast, Ric Flair Wooooo Nation, WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair talked about Buddy Matthews’ debut in AEW and claimed that used to tell Matthews that he was better than Seth Rollins.

“I have a special place for Buddy Murphy. I like Buddy Murphy a lot. I used to tell him, ‘You’re better than Seth Rollins.’ I really do believe that he is a talented worker. Watch him work. He is talented as hell.”

We will have to wait and see how Buddy Matthews will fare in AEW as fans are certainly excited to see whether he will find success in the company or not.
