Ring Of Honor shocked the pro wrestling world to its core when it announced that it was going to undergo a reimagining. This led to the company releasing all of its talents at the same time. It seems Tony Khan will be personally booking the upcoming ROH show as well.
AEW President Tony Khan revealed on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite that he has purchased the entirety of Ring Of Honor. This was certainly an unexpected move, with fans and pro wrestlers alike still talking about it even now.
Tony Khan was also said to be personally handling the booking for Ring of Honor from now on. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Dave Meltzer stated that Tony Khan will be personally handling creative for the company’s return show on April 1 from Dallas, Texas.
“They did the sale as quick as they could and now they’re trying to figure out exactly what they’re going to do. The key is Tony Khan is going to be booking a show on April 1, which isn’t very far away and we don’t have a lineup. It’s going to be very tricky to put together a lineup. I would presume that there will be a bunch of AEW guys on the show just because there’s nobody, as in zero, people under Ring of Honor contract.
All plans previous are off and Khan will be handling the creative, but they are not looking at starting from scratch and eliminating champions and such or killing prior storylines.”
CM Punk also made it clear he is thankful Tony Khan purchased Ring Of Honor and not Vince McMahon. WWE also wanted to shut down Ring Of Honor had they purchased the company back in 2018. We will have to wait and see whether Ring Of Honor will succeed under Tony Khan’s leadership or not.
