As seen on this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, Ridge Holland hit Big E with a release German Suplex which resulted in Big E landing directly on his neck. Big E didn’t get enough rotation and he landed directly on the top of his head.
Big E had to be stretchered out as fans feared the worst. Big E then revealed that he had suffered a broken neck due to the bump.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about Big E’s injury status. Dave Meltzer mentioned how there are different levels of broken necks and that Big E might have a surgery and be gone for a while similar to what happened with Steve Austin, Edge and Chris Benoit.
There are different levels of break obviously. There are broken necks that can end your career and a lot of wrestlers came back from broken necks. It could be that one-year surgery thing that Steve Austin, Benoit and Edge had too. It might not be the end of the world but its still not good.
We will have to wait and see just how severe Big E’s neck injury is in the end, as he is likely to be out of action for a very long time by the looks of it.
