Update: William Regal has publicly addressed this report while calling big cap on Meltzer’s story.
Original: William Regal is certainly a veteran in the world of professional wrestling, who competed all over the world. He has been involved in the business for multiple decades as well and made a name for himself both as a pro wrestler and for his backstage roles. It seems his health issues might be more serious than ever before.
Wiliam Regal made his debut during the AEW Revolution pay-per-view, as he appeared after Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley’s match and seemingly helped them form a tag team.
During this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, William Regal cut a passionate promo about why he came to AEW and how he came to know Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley. During the promo, Regal also stated that he did not have much time left, which alarmed fans.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, William Regal, who almost died due to substance abuse long ago, might be suffering greatly as his health issues seem to be more serious than ever before.
Regal mentioned about having limited time left and it freaked people out. While Regal openly in his autobiography and in public appearances has talked extensively about substance abuse issues that nearly killed him a generation ago, that basically killed his career until he and Chris Benoit had a great match at the Brian Pillman Memorial show one year and he was so good it renewed interest in him and he worked for WWE for a long period of time after being brought back. Apparently Regal’s health issues at this stage are far more serious than have ever come out and there is an interview that will be released next week that he did for Talk is Jericho that will detail them
William Regal is certainly happy to be in AEW from the looks of it. Tony Khan also believes Regal will be very beneficial to AEW in the long run. We will have to wait and see how Regal will benefit AEW in the end.
