Keith Lee’s laid-back personality comes as a surprise to a lot of people. Lee is a giant of a man. It is his cool demeanor and shocking agility that have made him unique among larger professional wrestlers. When Keith showed up to WWE, a lot of people there didn’t “get it.”

Those same qualities have helped Keith Lee to fit in at AEW very well. There are two different sets of expectations and two very different companies to work for. In WWE, it seems as though Keith had big personality crashes.

During a recent appearance on Talk Is Jericho, Lee talked in detail about what he thought went wrong in WWE. From day one, Keith Lee believed people were put off by his personality. Lee said his relaxed approach backstage made some feel he was disrespectful.

“I think that my personality is something that kind of threw people off at first. Because I am very to myself and I am very laid back. I don’t really seem like what I exude out there, and I think that’s okay.

I think it’s okay to turn it on when it’s time to turn on. But that apparently rubbed some people up the wrong way when I got there. You know I wasn’t, ‘Hey, hey, how you doing?’ I will shake hands and go about my business, that’s as much as I feel like is needed. But some people took that as maybe disrespect.”

Keith Lee was released by WWE last November. Lee is now All Elite and hoping that being closer to his true self will continue to resonate with fans. It has been working out wonderfully so far.
