Shane McMahon had a very short stay in WWE after his most recent comeback. A wild day backstage at the Royal Rumble led to WWE quietly letting McMahon go. With Shane’s departure, plans for a major WrestleMania match went out the window.
There were varying reports about who Shane McMahon was scheduled to face at WrestleMania 38. Early news indicated that Seth Rollins was to be put in a feud with Shane. Nothing was ever confirmed and Shane was gone as quickly as he arrived.
On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed WWE’s original plan for Shane McMahon at WrestleMania. Shane was scheduled to face Seth Rollins. Meltzer also joked that WWE might have to give him a call back as Rollins still needs something to do at the show of shows.
“I’m pretty sure that something’s going to be worked out for Seth Rollins at WrestleMania. Even if they have to call Shane back, who was actually going to be his original opponent.”
Seth Rollins is far too big a star to not have a match at WrestleMania. WWE has been running a storyline for weeks about how Rollins and Kevin Owens wouldn’t be on the show. KO squashed that last night by calling out Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Time will tell what WWE will come up with for Seth Rollins. WrestleMania is getting closer with each passing day. There will surely be something for Rollins to do on the show, it is just a matter of waiting to see what that will be.
