Sting shocked the world when he made his debut in AEW last year in December. Since then he has been featured heavily on AEW television being paired up with Darby Allin. Many AEW stars want a piece of Sting, including Paul Wight.
Despite being over 60, Sting certainly has been competing at an unexpectedly high level and that has certainly impressed fans and pro wrestlers alike. For many fans, he has hardly lost a step.
Sting teamed up with Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara and squared off against Matt Hardy, Andrade El Idolo, and Isiah Kassidy in a Tornado Trios Match. It featured a spot where Sting jumped from the balcony and landed on Andrade El Idolo on a table.
While speaking during the post-AEW Revolution media scrum, Sting talked about his insane spot during the event. Sting also revealed that he started doing live AEW matches after Cody Rhodes gave him props for his kinetic energy.
“No, I’ll just be straight up with everybody. I talked to Tony and I said, ‘I’m not really sure what I have to offer,’ because I’m not going to have these long 20-30 minute matches against these young guys. ‘What do you have in mind?’ He said, ‘How about cinematic matches?’ ‘Yeah, I think I could do that.’ We got halfway through the filming of that one and Cody Rhodes, followed by Tony, was like, ‘Your kinetic energy is still really crazy. You can still go and have a real match.’ That’s where it all started. Cody texted me today and said, ‘Gameday.’ It started with kinetic energy comments. I didn’t think I would be in here doing this, but I’m having so much fun. I feel like I’m in good hands. It’s great being with Darby,”
We will have to wait and see what is next in store for Sting and Darby Allin now that their feud with the Hardy Family Office and Andrade has seemingly come to an end.
