Ever since Cody Rhodes left AEW, there have been numerous talks, speculations, and rumors about Cody Rhodes future. One majorly accepted belief was that he is headed to WWE, but it seems that’s not happening now.
Cassidy of Body Slam reported earlier this week that talks between Rhodes and WWE had “fizzled out.” However, Dave Meltzer on Friday stated Vince McMahon did not believe that the talks had “fizzled.”
Ringside exclusively reported that Rhodes was listed on internal documents of WWE WrestleMania. Ringside was informed by a tenured member of the creative team.
Meltzer then shared the following on Twitter to state that WWE’s creative team was informed that there is a possible change of plans for Cody. This information was given to the team yesterday evening, after Ringside News’ report.
“Definite change in Cody/WWE status. Creative was told last night.”
Meltzer also elaborated on F4W message board to elaborate a bit.
“It’s pretty obvious he got a big offer from WWE when his deal was up, the announcement came he was leaving AEW and the original offer he got was tore up and he was offered less to the point where he might not even go. Pure Vince play there. Cody lost his leverage when the leaving AEW announcement was made.”
As of right now, Rhodes’ return to WWE is certainly not locked as he is yet to sign a deal with WWE. We’ll have to see what becomes of it as time passes and what plan does creative team plus McMahon might design for Cody.
