Flip Gordon was a big part of All In, the massive independent show that led to the formation of All Elite Wrestling. Since then, Gordon has been working for Ring of Honor and in Japan and expressing his political apathy. At one time, it was thought that Flip was a shoo-in to be All Elite.
Things didn’t work out that way and Flip was largely absent from anything to do with AEW. On this week’s Being The Elite, Flip Gordon once again turned up. Many fans assumed he was on his way to AEW.
Fightful Select has refuted that report. Gordon signed a multi-year extension with ROH in the spring of 2020. It isn’t known if he is officially a free agent at this time. ROH has been very good about allowing talent to pursue other opportunities during their hiatus.
“Fightful spoke with several within All Elite Wrestling about Flip Gordon’s presence backstage at recent AEW Dynamite tapings. Gordon appeared on an episode of Being The Elite, where he participated in a recurring bit with Young Bucks, Adam Cole and others. He told numerous people backstage that as of then, he’d not signed with AEW.”
Gordon told various people backstage during his visit to AEW Dynamite that he had not signed with the company. At one time, Gordon was very closely associated with BTE and the circle that founded AEW. No deal is in place for now.
We will have to wait and see if Tony Khan is interested in pursuing Flip Gordon. Gordon does have a good deal of talent and got along well with everybody at Dynamite. It could also have just been a visit with old friends.
