Asuka hasn’t been seen on WWE television since July 2021. The Empress of Tomorrow suffered an injury at the time that barred her from active in-ring competition.

It was previously reported that WWE was optimistic Asuka would return to the company in February 2022, but that didn’t happen as the creative had no immediate plans for her.

According to Fightful Select, Asuka’s name is still on the inactive list WWE rotates internally. The former RAW Women’s Champion was discussed for a spot at the 2022 Royal Rumble, but that idea was also shot down.

“As of February, Asuka was still listed on internal WWE inactive lists, while wrestlers like Xavier Woods were removed from it, even though he still hasn’t appeared on programming.

“One WWE source indicated that the optimistic return is ‘around Spring’ for Asuka, and another said that no creative has been cooked up for her because she’s not available as of yet.”
