Johnny Gargano recently announced that he was ready to take control of his career and start considering independent bookings. Many fans speculated that Johnny would be heading straight to AEW after some time off for the birth of his son, Quill. It appears Gargano will be testing the independent waters for a while.

Fans have been expecting Johnny Wrestling to show up in AEW ever since he allowed his WWE contract to expire without re-signing a new deal. Gargano took some time off to enjoy his growing family. Twitch streaming also became a way to stay connected with fans.

AEW has been a conveyor belt of big-name free agents over the past several months. Buddy Matthews recently debuted as a member of the House of Black and Keith Lee made an immediate splash on his debut. More free agents are expected to show up very soon. According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Johnny Gargano won’t be coming right away if he does decide to join Tony Khan’s promotion.

“Don’t expect him… Apparently, don’t expect him in AEW in the next month or so. I know people were expecting it any week now. Jeff Hardy should be in relatively soon. Shane Strickland should be in soon.

I don’t know of anybody else off the top of my head coming in just yet, but I think that there will be more. That’s pretty much what’s going on there.”

AEW continues to add well-known names to their growing roster. Many fans have expressed concern that there won’t be room for their favorite stars to get a spot. Tony Khan seems to be confident that he will be able to figure it out.
