Rob Gronkowski is a four-time Super Bowl champion and is regarded by many as one of the best football players in the modern era. He was also involved in a program at WrestleMania a couple of years ago. It seems he even panicked about a huge spot as well.
The legendary tight end spent some time in WWE when he was still retired from professional football. He would go on to sign with the Tamba Bay Buccaneers and is having a great run there.
We exclusively reported that Rob Gronkowski had a lot of heat on him backstage in WWE as the company treated him like a Saudi Prince. In fact, Vince McMahon even helped Gronkowski perform a spot by demonstrating it himself.
While speaking on The Session with Renee Paquette, Mojo Rawley talked about Rob Gronkowski’s appearance during the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33. Rawley stated that Gronkowski was panicking because a security guard at ringside tried to stop him as they didn’t know Gronkowski was part of the show.
“In rehearsals, we tried hard to limit as many people as possible to who actually knew what was coming. And somehow, no one buzzed security. So, we get to the spot and I’m laying on the ground, I’m selling, and Rob steps over and comes charging up and, you know, Lisa (the security guard) jacked his ass up. And I know Rob, so I saw Rob’s face when it happened, and I was like, he has no idea what to do right now. That is his legitimate, confused shocked face. Not trying to sell, like he is kind of panicking right now because he can’t pivot. We’re trained to pivot.
I’m on the ground covering my face, I’m like, ‘Aye, part of the show. Part of the show, let him go. Part of the show. He’s good’, Muhtadi continued. “And I remember Tony, the other security guard runs up and he sees this and he’s just like, ‘What the f*ck’. Screaming out, I was dying. I was trying so hard not to let anyone see my face.”
Rob Gronkowski also pinned Mojo Rawley to win the 24/7 Championship at WrestleMania 36. Gronkowski lost the 24/7 Title and left WWE after that. We wonder whether Rob Gronkowski will ever return to the company again.
