The Lucha Bros defended their AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Jurassic Express in the main event of the debut episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS. The titles changed hands when all was said and done, but it wasn’t without tragedy. It seems Fenix’s injury might have caused a huge match to be delayed.
During the tag team match, Luchasaurus dropped Rey Fenix with a Chokeslam through the table. The spot didn’t go as planned as Fenix landed directly on his arm, as it bent in an awkward direction upon landing.
As reported earlier, Rey Fenix is expected to make his return next month after suffering the injury. Heading into AEW Revolution on March 6th, one of the most speculated matches is certainly Death Triangle vs The House Of Black.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the speculated 6-man tag team match between Death Triangle and The House Of Black. Meltzer noted that with Fenix unlikely to make it in time for AEW Revolution, the match may have to be postponed.
“That may be a little bit later, because I was told that Fenix still has three weeks, and three weeks is kinda missing March 6. But who knows? It’s wrestlers, it’s Rey Fenix and he’s crazy. Maybe he’ll make it and maybe that match will be on there as well.”
Fenix also added that he will come back as a better version of himself. With Fenix likely to return in the middle of March, we will have to wait and see when the 6-man tag team match will take place.
