The concept of the Forbidden Door has been making headlines in the past couple of years, especially with AEW’s previous partnership with Impact Wrestling and NJPW. Since then Impact Wrestling has worked with a variety of companies as well. It seems Tony Khan has hinted at more wrestlers walking through the Forbidden Door.
AEW President Tony Khan previously made it clear the Forbidden Door will return and it certainly did, as NJPW star Jay White made his debut on AEW television recently. Since then he has competed in a solid match against Trent and is likely to remain on AEW television for a while.
While speaking with Sporting News, Tony Khan added that fans can certainly look forward to seeing more NJPW and AEW stars crossing the Forbidden Door.
“Jay White came through the Forbidden Door via our great relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling. New Japan and AEW have put on some great matches together, with great wrestlers from AEW going there. Jon Moxley was the IWGP United States champion before losing the belt to Lance Archer.
We’ve seen great wrestlers from New Japan come into AEW, like Minor Suzuki, Tomohiro Ishii, Jay White and KENTA. I think we can look forward to seeing more wrestlers both ways through the Forbidden Door.”
It remains to be seen which pro wrestlers will make their way to AEW as part of the Forbidden Door in the future and vice versa.
