Lio Rush has had a lot going on in the past several months. Lio debuted in AEW at May’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view. A very public disagreement with Tony Khan led to Lio deciding to leave the company by January. Rush made several independent appearances as he waited for his AEW contract to run out.
Lio was booked for a match with Shane “Swerve” Strickland for an upcoming Terminus event. Strickland is just getting back into the independent scene after being released by WWE. It looked like a fantastic matchup on paper.
According to Baron Black on Fightful’s Grapsody podcast, Lio Rush and Gabriel Kidd will both miss the February 24th event. Rush suffered a dislocated shoulder at PWG’s Battle of Los Angeles Night 2. Kidd was originally supposed to face Davey Richards. Richards will now take on Swerve in what should still be a stellar replacement contest.
Terminus 2 features an all-star cast including an ROH title defense by Jonathan Gresham against Santana. Jay Lethal will take on Baron Black. AEW’s Serena Deeb will take on Liiza Hall. Daniel Garcia is also scheduled for a tag match at the event. You can check out the full card below:
Invictus held their first event in mid-January. The show was generally well-received. Despite the injuries causing a shakeup, this event looks to be equally enticing for independent wrestling fans.
