AJ Styles has been considered as one of the best pro wrestlers by both fans and wrestlers alike and it is not hard to understand why. Styles continues to work at a high level despite growing older and continues to amaze fans. It seems Styles opened up about teaming up with Omos.
AJ Styles and Omos were a formidable tag team, as they even went on to win the RAW Tag Team Titles from The New Day at WrestleMania 37. Styles’ partnership certainly helped Omos grow in numerous ways.
In the end, AJ Styles and Omos split up last year. Omos would also beat Styles in their singles match, effectively ending their feud. While speaking with BT Sport’s Ariel Helwani, AJ Styles admitted that he felt he and Omos were spinning their wheels while they were a tag team and that splitting up was the right call.
“I thought, ‘here is an opportunity for me to help this young monster develop and be someone unbelievable one day. It was exciting at first when we were tag champs, but then there was a lot of times where we were spinning our wheels based on what we were given and the parameters in which we could do it. It did make it difficult.
It was a good time to end it. He needs to be able to learn to do it himself and there is only so much you can explain to someone. Until you’re doing it yourself and you’re learning as you go, it’s guys like Kurt Angle who are able to learn so quickly because they were in the ring with so many other great athletes that they develop so quickly.”
AJ Styles also recently stated that he believes Omos could be one of the greatest Superstars ever. It remains to be seen whether AJ Styles will turn out to be right or not in the end.
