John Cena is a 16-time World Champion in WWE and was the face of the company for over ten years. He is currently busy with his life in Hollywood, but he wasn’t successful on his first venture onto the Silver Screen.

Cena’s debut movie was The Marine, which was released in 2006. Its critical reception was abysmal and fans didn’t like it either. Even John Cena himself needed a drink after watching the movie.

While speaking with GQ, John Cena revealed that was given the starring role in The Marine after WWE Hall Of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ pulled out of the project before shooting commenced.

“This was originally a role that was written for Steve Austin and two weeks before shooting, Steve backed out for whatever reason. That’s a conversation for him. Vince said ‘hey, I gotta send you to Australia.’ I said ‘okay, what am I doing?’ And he said ‘well, you’re gonna be in a movie.’ ‘Okay, when?’ ‘I gotta send you in 10 days.’ I pretty much left a small meeting in his office and packed my bags and went to be in the movies, which I knew nothing about.”

John Cena has had better success in his recent times in Hollywood, especially thanks to his excellent role in The Peacemaker spinoff. It remains to be seen when he will return to WWE television again.
