Brock Lesnar walked into Saudi Arabia with one goal in mind. The Beast was hoping to make his WrestleMania main event bout with Roman Reigns a champion vs champion showdown. Brock reached that ambition emphatically.
The Elimination Chamber match saw Riddle, Lesnar, Seth Rollins, Austin Theory, and AJ Styles challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship. Austin Theory and Rollins started the match out and were soon joined by Riddle. Lashley had to leave the match with an injury after Rollins buckle bombed Theory through his pod. AJ Styles entered next with the match ostensibly down to five competitors.
Lesnar entered after Lashley was supposed to with the rest of the competitors worn out after a physical battle. Lashley was announced as being in concussion protocol and unable to return. Lesnar quickly eliminated Riddle, Rollins, and Styles. Brock displayed his signature dominance, clearly focused on taking the title to Mania. Lesnar won the title after tossing Theory from the top of his pod.
Roman Reigns successfully defended his Universal Championship against Goldberg in the opening bout of the main card. The WWE legend was left bleeding after the Tribal Chief was finished with him. With his part complete, fans waited to see if WrestleMania would treat them to the historic matchup between WWE’s two top champions.
With the smoke cleared from Elimination Chamber, the WrestleMania picture has become clearer. Becky Lynch will defend the Raw Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair. Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair will go head-to-head for the SmackDown title. Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar will battle in one of the biggest title matches in recent memory.
The WWE Universe was very surprised when Bobby Lashley beat Lesnar for the championship at the Royal Rumble premium live event. Lashley’s reign proved to be a short one, which has been par for the course with the WWE title lately. Big E’s reign ended before he ever established much championship momentum.
WWE will now turn its focus to building up to WrestleMania. With reports of a returning Steve Austin and The Undertaker’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, the show promises to be huge. Two champions in the main event will only make things more interesting for fans.
