There is no doubt that Cody Rhodes helped out AEW significantly, both inside the squared circle and backstage as well. He was the EVP of the company and had numerous responsibilities, all of which he performed to the best of his abilities. It seems some in AEW were happy Cody and Brandi Rhodes left the company.
As reported earlier, Cody Rhodes and his wife Brandi have departed from the company earlier this week. This came after they worked in AEW for three years and certainly shocked and pro wrestling alike.
According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there were also those who were not a fan of Cody and Brandi Rhodes backstage in AEW. It was said that there were some backstage in the company who were happy the two of them left AEW.
“While many publicly thanked Cody for his work, it was noted to us that this was not universal. There were those happy both Cody and Brandi were gone and thought the “hero treatment” given to him by some in the company after he left is a great public story but not the real story.”
Khan was almost in tears over the departure of one of the founding fathers of the company after Dynamite went off the air this past Wednesday. WWE is already celebrating Cody Rhodes’ departure as well. We will have to wait and see how Rhodes will fare in WWE, as that seems to be his next pro wrestling destination.
