MJF has developed one of the finest heel characters in wrestling today. The AEW star constantly reminds people that he’s better than them and they know it. It is never a surprise when Maxwell Jacob Friedman receives merit for his talents.
The Long Island native is the best at everything he does in his mind. It is that kind of arrogance that has made him such an effective bad guy. MJF’s feud with CM Punk has seen some of the best interview work in AEW history.
Rob Van Dam had previously named Max as 2021’s best heel. MJF was announced as the winner of Best on Interviews in this year’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards. The fan-voted contest saw MJF edging Eddie Kingston by nearly 200 votes. MJF accepted the award on Twitter as if he was entitled to it.
MJF rarely brakes character which is something you don’t see from a lot of heels in wrestling today. Even while acknowledging the award, he was doing his usual “better than you” act. The three-time Dynamite Diamond Ring winner believes he deserves all the accolades he gets.
The feud between Friedman and CM Punk is starting to gather steam. On this week’s Dynamite, it was announced that the two will compete in a dog collar match at the upcoming Revolution pay-per-view. Old school fans know just how violent things might get.
