CM Punk made his All Elite Wrestling debut a few months ago at AEW Rampage: The First Dance. It certainly changed the pro wrestling world as many people took notice of the company. Tony Schiavone considered it the greatest debut in pro wrestling history.

CM Punk has become one of the mainstays of AEW television and has feuded against several stars. His most high profile feud so fair in AEW has certainly been with MJF, as it continued for the past few months.

MJF and CM Punk duked it out in a very highly anticipated match a couple of weeks ago on AEW Dynamite. MJF would win the match in the end after some assistance from Wardlow.

While speaking on an UnSKripted interview, Hugo Savinovich talked about CM Punk’s booking so far in AEW. Savinovich heavily criticized Tony Khan for not booking CM Punk properly.

“Even though Tony Khan has not done a good job with CM Punk, especially when they just put him on commentary, that just really upset me. Despite that, I still believe CM Punk’s comeback, over seven years waiting, I wish I would have had something to do with the creative part because I would have had to strangle Tony Khan and whoever would not give CM Punk a chance. He gave a better opportunity creatively to Daniel Bryan than he did to CM Punk and my money was on pushing CM Punk because Daniel Bryan or Bryan Danielson whatever you want to call him, he was already made.

But with CM Punk it was a controversial figure that left not on his own terms, fired on his honeymoon by Vince McMahon, AEW was presented with such a powerful story to bring him back as an a******** and they just brought him back like a professional TV person, not as CM Punk. But I still have to give it to him, the fact that he come back is what counts, not giving Tony Khan any credit for the job they have done. Perhaps in the last month and a half they improved a little bit with him, but I think his comeback was news and CM Punk, if he is portrayed the right way and creatively, if AEW people, now you’ve just got to say Tony Khan. If he does the right thing, I think CM Punk could shock the world again. But he really need to have no respect for AEW, or Tony Khan, he has to kick a** to comeback and do what he did for many years as a straight-shooter.”

CM Punk got the opportunity to challenge MJF to another match after he and Jon Moxley defeated FTR on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. It remains to be seen how AEW will continue to develop Punk and MJF’s feud in the coming weeks.
