WWE has featured some big matches for AJ Styles, but he hasn’t been able to lock up with Edge just yet. That is obviously a dream for him.
AJ Styles sat down with Ariel Helwani for an interview where he spoke about his WWE debut and so much more. AJ styles revealed which WWE match he desperately wants, and yes, it was none other than WWE Hall Of Famer Edge.
Edge made a surprise entrance in the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble match and has since returned to WWE. The 6ft 5inch Edge retired in 2011 due to several neck injuries and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame the following year.
“He’s so knowledgeable. He’s such a superstar. I would love to get the opportunity to get in the ring with him. There was that time when I thought there would never be an opportunity to wrestle him, and now, it’s here. The time is limited in which we can pull it off. Whether he or I retire first, who knows, but I want to get that match. I desperately want to get that match. I think it’s the one that most fans would enjoy.”
Styles also talked about his WWE debut at 2016 Royal Rumble and believes WWE had no plans for him back then:
“I don’t know if they planned anything. It was like, ‘Hey, we need something different for the Rumble. You want to throw in AJ? I think there was a big discussion when I’d even go out. I don’t think Vince believed that anyone would know who I was. From what I’m hearing or heard, he saw nothing great about AJ Styles, even after the pop at the Rumble. I wasn’t even going to be on RAW the next day.”
AJ Styles vs. Edge is certainly an exciting matchup. The likelihood hood of this match happening has been speculated for quite a while. However, as of now, we don’t know if it will happen anytime soon.
