Big E had to cross many hurdles over the years, during his time in WWE. After a solid run on NXT, he was called up to the main roster but was eventually lost in the shuffle. It seems WWE was criticized yet again for Big E’s booking.
At the WWE Day 1 pay-per-view, Big E defended his WWE Championship against Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar. To the shock of many, Brock Lesnar pinned Big E after hitting an F5 and won the match, thus becoming the WWE Champion at that time.
Many fans felt Big E’s first reign as the WWE Champion left much to be desired as they wanted better for him. Big E even previously admitted he was not really satisfied with his WWE Championship run.
While speaking on Throwing Down w/ Renee & Miesha, WWE personality Peter Rosenberg talked about Big E’s booking in the company. Rosenberg criticized WWE for no real plans for Big E.
“When he won the title, and I told him this the other day. I admitted this to him, ‘I was in this awkward position of when you won the title, everyone was so hyped up, and I didn’t like the way you got it. I didn’t think it made sense. I thought it was really rushed.’ They were just one night like, ‘Big E is cashing in tonight.’ It was promoted and here’s the time. They literally ran a commercial break between him cashing in and the match. Can you do any more to suspend any sort of disbelief about what the cash in is?
The funny thing is, all these ‘smart wrestling fans’, they’re all like, ‘We know wrestling so well,’ but when someone wins a title, they think that’s the only thing that matters. But how they get the title, and what happens once they have the title, is more important for their long term story. As you saw with the way Big E was tossed from The Rumble, they obviously at this moment don’t have any real plans. That’s how it felt to me.”
Big E was originally supposed to be in the main event of WrestleMania 38 this year, but that is no longer the case. It remains to be seen whether WWE will have anything major planned for Big E in the future, as it seems unlikely at this point in time.
