Matt Cardona was released by WWE as part of the COVID-19 budget cuts back in 2020. Since then, Matt Cardona truly put on the performance of his career, making a name for himself in numerous promotions. It seems Cardona has something to be happy about.
Cardona began his WWE career along with Curt Hawkins as part of the Edgeheads tag team. Being known as Zack Ryder during his time in WWE, Ryder gained fanfare thanks to his Long Island Iced Z show on YouTube.
Broski was largely underutilized by the company until his release. Following his release, Cardona had a tremendous run in GCW and also Impact Wrestling. For a while now Cardona had been engaged in a feud with the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Trevor Murdoch.
During a recent NWA event at Oak Grove, Kentucky, Matt Cardona challenged Trevor Murdoch for his title. Cardona did the unthinkable as he defeated Murdoch to become the new champion, shocking the world.
Holy crap. @TheMattCardona pinned Trevor Murdoch tonight in Oak Grove, Kentucky, to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.
2022 is already shaping up to be a tremendous year for Matt Cardona from the looks of it. We will have to wait and see how he will fare as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion in the coming weeks.
