Paul Heyman is one of the most well-known and established names in the pro wrestling world. He is touted as one of the greatest minds to have ever been seen in the business. It seems Heyman gave an insight into his promo work as well.
Heyman is certainly one of the best talkers on the microphone and has helped elevate many Superstars he has worked with over the years and that includes Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar and others.
While speaking with Alex Rawls of NOLA.com, Paul Heyman explained the thought process behind his promos and revealed how he perceives the WWE audience as a single entity.
“I see the audience en masse,” Heyman revealed, noting that he’s trying to reach everybody, if for no other reason than it ups his odds of success. “You try to seduce as much of the crowd as possible, to be invested in your message, and the only way to do that is to present yourself to all of them, not one of them or some of them.
It’s a collaborative effort with the audience. If the audience isn’t a character in the performance, then you’re leaving out your greatest asset.”
Paul Heyman recently aligned himself with Roman Reigns after betraying Brock Lesnar at WWE Royal Rumble. Heyman will continue to cut excellent promos and that is unlikely to change anytime soon.
