Ronda Rousey made her debut in WWE at the end of the 2018 edition of the Royal Rumble after transitioning from the world of UFC. She would go on to win the WWE RAW Women’s Championship and held it for half a year until dropping it at WrestleMania 35 in 2019. It seems she used an interesting method to hide her Royal Rumble appearance.
Rousey wasn’t seen on WWE television since WrestleMania 35 and fans weren’t sure if they would ever see her again. It turned out, they did as Rousey returned during the Women’s Royal Rumble match this year. She eliminated Charlotte Flair and won the match on top of that.
While speaking during a gaming stream on Facebook, Ronda Rousey revealed that the live stream she uploaded when the Royal Rumble was going on, wasn’t actually live. Rousey did this in order to ensure fans wouldn’t get to know about her return.
“I don’t know if I should apologize or just put the record straight that we did our first-ever non-live stream. So we did a little bit of kayfabe stream for you guys so I could sneak out for Royal Rumble. Cause it got leaked that I was going to be there. And, what’s it called? We recorded a VR stream and played it as if it was live.
But the real diehards knew it was recorded because I usually go live on Instagram to announce my streams, but I just posted it. I didn’t go live to say that and there were a lot of people like (looks surprised). So, the perceptive ones knew I was staging it. But, I’m glad it got the reaction that it did.”
Ronda Rousey recently chose Charlotte Flair as her opponent for WrestleMania 38 as well. We will have to wait and see whether she will be able to beat Charlotte Flair for the title or not.
