WWE has been sitting on a finished documentary about a superfan since at least mid-2021. The company even released a trailer for the film in April of that year. The project has never seen the light of day.
As of November of last year, the project was shelved indefinitely. The film is completely finished and ready for release. It’s just been sitting at WWE waiting for a plan.
The documentary follows the story of Vladimir Abouzeide, who moved to Manhattan from Haiti as a child and became enamored with the world of professional wrestling. It seems like an extremely interesting story. Mike Johnson at PW Insider was recently asked if there was any information on the status of the project.
“As of today, there has been zero communication from the company towards Vladimir in months and we are told there are still no current plans to release the finished and completed documentary, which was originally slated for a summer 2021 release.
We are also told there’s been no indication that will change anytime soon, so if you are waiting to see it, unfortunately, you will still be waiting and possibly for quite awhile.”
We’ll see if WWE ever figures out what they want to do with “Superfan: The Story of Vladimir.” For now, it is a very interesting piece of lost WWE media. Fans are hoping to someday get a look at the mysterious piece of WWE history.
