There is no doubt that WWE Hall Of Famer Goldberg is a proper legend in the professional wrestling world. The former WWE Universal Champion was not always a fan of pro wrestling but eventually came to love it. It seems Mark Henry isn’t a fan of his latest return as well.
Goldberg was absent from WWE television since WWE Crown Jewel last year in October. As seen on this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, Goldberg made his return to WWE television and confronted Roman Reigns, making it clear he wanted a shot at Roman Reigns’ WWE Universal Championship.
While speaking on Busted Open podcast, Mark Henry talked about Goldberg returning to WWE television. Henry blasted WWE for pushing Goldberg down people’s throats without giving him any buildup.
“I love Bill Goldberg as a person and as a man and as a father, and he’s built up equity in himself as a talent. That never goes away. But, sometimes, it is ismply better used when you are trying to enhance, bring light to a situation and let somebody else be the mentor. There is power in ‘giving’. They are putting Bill in a spot where he is ‘taking’. And it is not like he earned the #1 contendership.
If we saw him three weeks prior knocking off Kevin Owens, knocking off a Drew McIntyre and then him saying, ‘Okay, Roman, I’ve knocked off the top guys in your company, it’s time me and you square up for that title.’ It’s like, ‘Let’s just throw Bill in there.’ When you push it down people’s throat like that, obviously won’t accept it. They rebel. It is not Bill’s fault that the people in Jeddah want to see him. I would do it, but I would prepare everybody for it.”
Fans were also outraged after Goldberg came back. Goldberg also previously stated that he has only one more match left in his WWE contract and now it seems that will be against Roman Reigns at WWE Elimination Chamber on February 19th. It remains to be seen how they will book the feud on such short notice.
