The WWE Royal Rumble recently took place, with Brock Lesnar putting on an impressive show at the premium live event. As with any major event, things did not entirely go without a hitch, and there were goofs along the way.

One of these unexpected incidents included Shane McMahon and Randy Orton. As Ringside News exclusively reported, Shane McMahon tried to put himself over in a big way, even wanting to come in the #1 entry. He also had an issue with Randy Orton, because he wanted The Viper’s spot in St. Louis.

According toFightful, McMahon was supposed to be number 29, and Orton was supposed to be number 28. However, their numbers got reversed, which led to some confusion.

Several sources have indicated that Shane McMahon specifically wanted to go on in a spot that would highlight him, with one even mentioning that he pitched the number one spot. However, we’re told that Vince McMahon personally came along and said that he’d be making changes to the match and wouldn’t be doing much of what Shane laid out.

McMahon, possibly panicked, and almost reacted too hastily. Orton, however, kept his cool and informed McMahon that he would be entering to his own theme, and not to McMahon’s theme.

Following Orton’s clarification, McMahon quickly realized that he needed to make his entrance when his number was called out. Looks like Orton’s quick thinking saved the day here.
