Rey Mysterio is a true veteran in the world of professional wrestling and he is proud of his luchador heritage and legacy. He has won championships in various promotions all over the world in his three-decade-long career and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.

Mysterio came back to WWE in 2018 and since then has been involved in a variety of high profile feuds, especially teaming up with his son Dominik Mysterio over the past couple of years.

The master of the 619 and his son were even Smackdown Tag Team Champions earlier last year and have always been together since Dominik debuted. Mysterio also made it clear he never wants a father vs son storyline with Dominik.

While speaking on Rasslin with Brandon F. Walker, Rey Mysterio stated that he will hang up his pro wrestling boots once he is sure Dominik can take off on his own, which Mysterio hopes to be this year.

“I think I’ll step back once I feel like my son is ready just to take off on his own,” said Mysterio. “That would be really helpful for him. I’m hoping that it happens within this year.”

For him to branch out and take care of things on his own. I’ve had the opportunity to be on the same house shows as him, with me wrestling in a completely separate match and him wrestling by himself.”

This is interesting because Mysterio recently stated that he has no plans to retire from WWE. We will have to wait and see whether Mysterio will end up retiring this year or not.
