Mickie James made history last weekend when she appeared in the WWE Royal Rumble. James entered the women’s Rumble match as the reigning Impact Knockouts Champion. Mickie even brought along the title belt during her entrance.

Impact was more than happy to use some footage furnished by WWE to put over the historic cameo. WWE and Impact worked out a deal that would allow James to compete in the Rumble. The use of the footage was ostensibly part of that agreement.

Mickie James said she tore down one of the biggest ceilings in wrestling after her WWE appearance. The Knockouts champ was thrilled to use her own music and represent Impact to a broader audience. James thinks it’s a win for female wrestlers everywhere.

During last night’s Impact, Tom Hannifan gave a recap of Mickie James’ spots in the women’s Royal Rumble. James eliminated Michelle McCool and then she was thrown out by Lita. The rare crossover had fans buzzing for weeks.

Mickie James and Impact Wrestling generated some good word of mouth for the company. WWE got to bring back one of their legends. It was a win-win situation for all involved.

Mickie James would love to do more with WWE in the future. All indications are that this was a one-shot deal. Fans shouldn’t expect an influx of Impact stars on Raw and SmackDown.

Interestingly enough, WWE never gave Impact Wrestling the same love on social media.
