Ronda Rousey made her debut in WWE at the end of the 2018 edition of the Royal Rumble after transitioning from the world of UFC. She would go on to win the WWE RAW Women’s Championship and held it for half a year until dropping it at WrestleMania 35 in 2019. After an “impregnation vacation,” the Baddest Woman on the Planet is back in WWE.
Rousey was absent from WWE television for almost three years as fans lost all hope Rousey would ever come back. However, Rousey shocked the world as she returned during the Women’s Royal Rumble match this year and won the match as well after eliminating Charlotte Flair
Her return has been met with a mixed response from fans so far. While speaking on his Hall Of Fame podcast, Booker T talked about Ronda Rousey’s return to WWE. He went on to compare Ronda Rousey to Goldberg, explaining how Rousey might come to appreciate pro wrestling the same way Goldberg did eventually.
“Like when Goldberg first came in back in the day, Goldberg wasn’t a guy I think that really loved the business or anything like that, but he was making a lot of money. Goldberg was another guy that said certain things about the business. But now you see Goldberg, he realized and appreciate what this business has given to him. Now you see his son perhaps gravitating to it, and he feels a certain way after being around it, and then being away from it, and then being back to it.
When you’ve got a player like Ronda Rousey, you’ve got to use her, okay. It’s not like the regular kid on the block. It’s like if John Cena said, ‘hey guys, you got any room for me to come back for a couple of weeks?’ What do you say? ‘Bro, we ain’t got no space around here,’ you don’t say that, you make room. So for me, having Ronda back was really, really cool.”
As reported earlier, the company has major WrestleMania 38 plans for Ronda Rousey, which could see her finally square off against Charlotte Flair in a singles match. It remains to be seen how Rousey will be booked now that she is back.
