This year’s edition of the Royal Rumble was a very mixed bag for many fans. The most enticing aspect of this year’s edition of the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches was the likelihood of the Forbidden Door getting kicked in. Unfortunately, it was to no avail.

The Men’s Royal Rumble match had a lot of promise for many fans but it ultimately ended up disappointing everyone as it lacked any true surprise entrants. For most fans, the most surprising entry was Drew McIntyre if you don’t count Brock Lesnar.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, several talents were frustrated with the constant changes in the Royal Rumble matches last week. It was said that the plans for the Men’s Royal Rumble match were changed “literally 20 times” throughout the day, before and during the show. Evidently, the morale was very down as well.

The morale after the show was very down compared to most recent WWE PPVs because as one talent (who commented under condition of anonymity) stated, “We were all in a whirlwind.  Just as you had your role and spots down, everything started over and over and now most of us were back to square one.  It changed again and again and again.  It wasn’t an easy night even before we hit the ring.”

It was further reported that Vince McMahon had his hands in every aspect of the event. As Ringside News exclusively reported, there is a substantial amount of heat on Shane McMahon after his role as lead writer and producer of the Men’s Royal Rumble match. We will have to wait and see whether backstage morale will be improved or not.
