Riho recently announced that would return to her native Japan after suffering an undisclosed injury. The first-ever AEW Women’s World Champion shared a photo showing her arm in a sling. We now know the nature of that injury.
Riho announced that she suffered a broken collar bone in a January 31 social media post. The injury has been treated and Riho isn’t suffering very much. The former champion did make it to Japan safely as she will now relax and recover.
Riho emerged as one of the strongest competitors in what was initially seen as a weak AEW women’s division. After Riho defeated Hikaru Shida to qualify for the championship match, Riho defeated Nyla Rose to become the first woman to win the belt.
Riho has been one of the most popular women on the AEW roster. She most recently wrestled for the promotion at Battle of the Belts. Riho was defeated by Britt Baker in a women’s title match.
It is not yet known how long Riho will have to sit out. For the moment, she’s happy to be back home. After a very painful injury, she deserves some rest.
Britt Baker and the rest of the AEW women’s roster will be waiting when she’s ready to return. The division continues to evolve as new talent like Ruby Soho and Jade Cargill have emerged. Riho is hoping to make a splash once she’s fully healed and ready to return to the United States.
