Lio Rush was rushed to the ER after suffering a serious injury at tonight’s PWG Battle of Los Angeles event. Rush defeated Buddy Matthews by disqualification in the second round, a rare occurrence in PWG. It appears that Rush has provided an update on his injury.
Matthews laid out Rush with a curb stomp in the final seconds, and as the referee checked on Rush, Matthews continued to attack until the match was stopped. Rush said on Twitter that he wasn’t feeling well right now, but that he would be back, stronger and tougher than ever before.
Just being honest with you guys here. I’m not good. But i will be good. And when I’m back, I’ll be dangerous. #ManOfTheHour.
Later in the show, Matthews appeared for the semifinal match and informed the audience that Rush had been taken to the emergency room and would not be able to compete in the tournament, and that he would be filling in for Rush. Matthews was subsequently defeated by Speedball Mike Bailey, who progressed to the finals before losing to Daniel Garcia, the tournament winner this year.
The Man of the Hour debuted for AEW at the promotion’s Double Or Nothing PPV in 2021. Despite a solid showing, Rush couldn’t keep up with the momentum due to an injury he suffered at the Casino Battle Royale the very same night. Fortunately, Rush made a complete recovery and returned to wrestling full time. He has since left AEW and now is on the mend once again. We’re wishing him a speedy recovery.
