WWE presented the Royal Rumble event in St. Louis and that was a big night for fans. It turns out that spectators in a certain section of the crowd got a lot more excitement than they bargained for. Following Ronda Rousey’s Royal Rumble win, WWE set off a ton of pyro. Those indoor fireworks got too close to the WrestleMania sign and it set the sign on fire. Piece of the sign started to melt off the design, causing a section of fans to vacate their seats while WWE took care of it.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez noted that WWE pulled the exact same thing at the end of the night when Brock Lesnar won. Apparently, the company thought they would have better results the second time around.
You know what’s even better? The sign caught on fire, but they still set the sign off again after Brock Lesnar won and it caught fire again!
We’ll have to see if WWE makes a new WrestleMania 38 sign to hang from the rafters during their live events. If anything the charred version will likely remain in the WWE Warehouse as a reminder that you should never play with fire.
