Drew McIntyre remains one of the top Superstars in WWE and certainly has a lot of passion for the pro wrestling business. He is a former two-time WWE Champion and was the face of the company during the pandemic era as the WWE Champion. He is also never afraid to give advice to his peers whenever needed.
Back in the 2020 Royal Rumble, Drew McIntyre went on to win the match as he toppled a dominant Brock Lesnar and booked his ticket to WrestleMania 36. McIntyre would go on to defeat Lesnar for the WWE Championship.
Drew was said to be rehabbing as hard as John Cena in order to make his return before WrestleMania 38 after suffering neck injuries. Despite this he made his return at the Royal Rumble on January 29th.
In the end, Brock Lesnar came out as the #30 entrant and eliminated Drew McIntyre to win the Royal Rumble match. While speaking during a backstage interview after the match, Drew McIntyre vowed revenge on Brock Lesnar for stealing his childhood dream of main eventing WrestleMania in front of a live audience.
“I was supposed to be out a lot longer, hell longer than a month. The doctor looked me right in the eye and said, ‘don’t skip the surgery,’ the first night I was with him. Fortunately, that’s not how it went down. I rehabbed my ass off and got back one month, the Royal Rumble, a chance to win it and go to WrestleMania, and this time have a full screaming crowd of thousands of people and who is the man who took me out? The guy whom I had no idea was in the Rumble in the first place. The same person I defeated for the WWE Championship in the main event of WrestleMania.
The thing is, how I dreamt of as a kid was the main event, winning the championships, thousands of people screaming, and somehow I only got two out of three. And two out of three is bad in Drew McIntyre’s book. I want the main event, I want the title, and I want those people to be there to feel that moment with me and Brock Lesnar took that away from me tonight. There’s a lot of time until WrestleMania; I will wrap my head around that. In the meantime, Corbin and Madcap, that was just the beginning. We are far from over.”
We will have to wait and see what is next in store for Drew McIntyre as a feud between himself and Brock Lesnar seems likely in the future as well.
