The drastic change in character for Roman Reigns over the years has been well documented. He went from being an utterly dull babyface to one of the most compelling heels in WWE. He also isn’t a stranger when it comes to accolades in the company.
Roman Reigns was an eyesore for many when he was a babyface and fans and pro wrestlers alike agreed with this notion. This is in spite of the fact that Reigns competed in high profile matches against the very best.
Roman Reigns is currently the longest reigning Universal Champion in WWE history after surpassing Brock Lesnar’s record of 503 days as champion. From the looks of it, he won’t be dropping the title anytime soon.
While speaking on the SI Media Podcast with Jimmy Traina, Roman Reigns addressed the possibility of Vince McMahon telling him to drop the WWE Universal Title. Reigns made it clear he would need a very good reason to drop the title.
“It is hard to just speculate on that. I would have to be in that situation to truly know where I was. I would have to be able to see all the different variables and be able to see the chain reaction and how it would affect everything. That’s such a tricky question, I really would not know how to like honestly explain what my mindset would be. I am the man, yeah! He better listen, you know what I am saying. [laughs] He better acknowledge me, you know like who else is there, right?”
We will have to wait and see whether Seth Rollins will be able to defeat Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship at the WWE Royal Rumble event on January 29th.
