Xavier Woods has been out of action with a calf injury for several weeks. The King of the Ring has not wrestled since January 13th. Woods initially said he would be ready to wrestle in 4-6 weeks. King Xavier’s return to WWE television will likely come sooner than that.
Woods is expected to return to the road with WWE as of this Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown. It is not known if Xavier will appear on the show. The New Day member will be back on WWE’s regular touring schedule.
PW Insider announced the news earlier today. There is no word on when he will return to in-ring competition. The New Day does have a match scheduled for Friday with Madcap Moss and Happy Corbin. Woods could join Kofi Kingston and Big E for that bout.
“The New Day’s Xavier Woods is expected to return to the road for the company as of this Friday’s Smackdown taping in Kansas City, PWInsider.com has confirmed.
We are told Woods is expected to be back regularly on the road going forward but there’s no word as to whether he has been cleared to return to the ring to wrestle.”
The Royal Rumble would still be out of the question if Woods’ original prognosis holds up. Sometimes injuries can heal faster than expected. It’s not completely out of the question for Xavier Woods to take part in the Rumble. Fans shouldn’t get too excited, though.
