Lita is one of the most beloved WWE legends of all time. A feud with Trish Stratus brought women’s wrestling from the dregs of bra and panties and bikini matches to the main event of Monday Night Raw. There may not be a single women’s wrestle in WWE history who made more of an impact.
WWE is capitalizing on that by bringing Lita back for this year’s WWE Royal Rumble. Lita is hoping that it turns into an extended stay. The company could be planning to give her one final run.
Before Lita was announced to return at the Royal Rumble, rumors were flying everywhere that AEW had shown interest. It was reported that Tony Khan reached out to Lita in 2021 and pitched a feud with Britt Baker. Lita confirmed that she was contacted in a recent appearance on Throwing Down with Renee & Meisha.
“There were some potential opportunities floating around that I was like, ‘Maybe, maybe, maybe.’”
Lita and Edge were reportedly offered huge money to make the move to AEW. In the end, they both chose to stay with the company that made them famous. Lita has been training hard to prepare for the upcoming Royal Rumble match.
With a star as well-known and popular as Lita, it only makes sense for AEW and other promotions to have reached out. Lita is synonymous with women’s wrestling in the United States. The WWE Universe is glad she made the decision to come back home.
