Beth Phoenix will team up with her husband, Edge, to take on The Miz and Maryse at the WWE Royal Rumble premium live event. Edge and Beth thought they’d never get to work together in WWE. Then, Phoenix made a shocking return at Day 1. The mix tag match has been building ever since the Miz and Mrs. couple re-emerged in the company. The WWE Universe has been waiting for this feud for a long time.

Beth may have her differences with her reality star counterparts, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t respect them. The Glamazon has known both Miz and Maryse since their first days as WWE superstars. Phoenix watched as the fans rejected Miz due to his background on TV shows like The Real World.

It took years to finally be accepted by the WWE Universe as a wrestler. The Miz put in the time and effort to craft a compelling character that leans into his origins rather than trying to ignore them. Beth Phoenix recently told The Daily Star how much she respected Miz.

“I’ve known Mike [Miz] since his first day stepping in the ring, and Maryse, too.

The wrestling business – especially a couple of decades ago – we were a very close, tight-knit group and paying your dues was important.

Here you had someone coming in with fame and in the beginning, people were hesitant: ‘are you just seeking more fame, how much do you love this?’

Unfortunately, that put Mike on a path to be swimming upstream because, really, nothing could be further from the truth. I have such admiration for him.

To have the thick skin to spend all these years not getting the approval that you deserve and portrayed as a heel all these years – that is tough.

It’s not easy to go out there and have people screaming at you that you suck every single day.”

Respect will go out the window when these two couples clash at the Royal Rumble. Beth Phoenix will finally make her long-awaited return to get her hands on Maryse. We’ll see if her respectful demeanor carries on after what should be an entertaining mixed tag match.
