The lines between WWE and AEW are pretty well defined. It’s pretty clear that WWE does not want to do anything with the latter. However. AEW quite extensively takes up former WWE Superstars who were released by the brand.
AEW is a huge competitor to WWE, so it’s natural for them to acknowledge that they are there. It seems that Seth Rollins has taken the first step at bridging that gap, and he did that by acknowledging his former Shield partner.
Seth Rollins referred to Jon Moxley as “Mox” and not “Dean Ambrose” during the segment in WWE SmackDown. The reference must have come from Vince McMahon’s approval. That’s speculated because WWE usually uses the names they own rather than the names that the wrestlers are using independently in other promotions.
The segment dense cemented a match for later between Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins versus The USOs. If Owens and Rollins win, then the USOs would be banned supporting Reigns from the ringside during the Universal Championship match at Royal Rumble PPV.
The USOs are fighting for the comical reason of Roman Reigns getting a vacation until WrestleMania. Rollins’ mention of Jon Moxley has fans going crazy over social media. Check out the clip down below.
