Rocky Romero was scheduled for a big match on this week’s AEW Rampage. On Dynamite, Romero and Roppongi Vice partner Trent Beretta challenged The Young Bucks after stealing the services of Brandon Cutler. The bout was supposed to highlight the first live Rampage of 2022.

That bout will no longer take place. Rocky Romero announced via Twitter that he has tested positive for COVID-19. Tony Khan later changed the bout to a singles match between Trent and Nick Jackson.

Romero says his symptoms are very mild so far. Rocky noted that he is vaccinated and boosted. The New Japan star is hoping to be recovered in no time.

“Sorry everyone… Gonna have push back the RPG Vice reunion. COVID got me. Currently I’m feeling very mild symptoms. I’m vaxed and boosted so should kick right out of this!!”

COVID-19 has had a dramatic effect on the pro wrestling industry as a whole. After a year without crowds, the Omicron variant began to spread. WWE had a major internal crisis as the locker room dealt with an outbreak. Hopefully AEW doesn’t meet the same fate.

Rocky Romero is still hopeful for a Roppongi Vice reunion in the near future. For now, he will focus on feeling better. Everyone at Ringside News is pulling for Rocky Romero to have a speedy and full recovery!
