AEW has been giving WWE some serious competition for a while now. It seems the promotions are more neck and neck now than ever, as AEW Dynamite beat WWE RAW this week with a 0.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
January 17th’s episode of WWE RAW brought in 1,613,000 viewers. They also scored a .43 rating in the coveted 18 to 49 demographic. Although AEW didn’t score as many viewers, they did beat RAW by .01 in the coveted 18 to 49 demographic.
AEW definitely had a lot of things working in its favor to make this happen. This week marked Jon Moxley’s return from rehab. In addition, Cody Rhodes made an appearance, as did Sting, and AEW Champion Hangman Page.
AEW President, CEO, General Manager, and Head Of Creative, Tony Khan took to Twitter to celebrate this milestone. In his tweet, Khan thanked fans, and noted that this was AEW’s best viewership since last fall.
Thank you fans who watched #AEWDynamite last night on @TBSNetwork, our biggest audience since last fall & #1 on cable because support from you wrestling fans!
As mentioned by Khan, this was AEW’s largest audience since the Second Anniversary episode on October 6. This week’s Dynamite drew 1.032 million viewers with a 0.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
While WWE RAW still beat AEW Dynamite in terms of overall viewership, this is certainly no small feat on AEW’s part. It definitely seems like Tony Khan has no plans to slow down. Check out his tweet below.
