After months of speculation about his future, we now know that Sami Zayn recently re-signed a new deal with WWE. Fightful Select reported the news this morning. The negotiations went down quietly behind closed doors.
“Last month, it was reported by Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there was backstage chatter that Sami Zayn re-signed with the WWE as his deal was coming due. Fightful Select has been able to confirm that Zayn did actually re-sign with WWE and is locked down for several more years. One person we talked to around that time said Zayn was kind of private about the negotiations, but that WWE made it clear they wanted to retain his services.”
Ringside News exclusively reported on December 20th that WWE writers were given the green light to start pitching long term story ideas for Zayn once again.
Sami Zayn’s contract was set to expire at the end of 2021. Owens was on the same schedule but made his new deal public shortly after it was signed. Sami preferred to take a quieter route.
