AEW’s roster is full of talented wrestlers, consisting of both veterans and the younger generation of talents. This includes Wardlow, who has been a force to be reckoned with since his debut in AEW back in 2020. It seems Ric Flair was not a fan of CM Punk’s most recent match.
After his debut in AEW, Wardlow has always been paired up with MJF, as he is his bodyguard and enforcer. There is no doubt Wardlow has a lot of talent and for the past few months, the company has been teasing Wardlow eventually turning on MJF.
On last week’s episode of AEW dynamite, CM Punk squared off Wardlow in a singles match. It was largely a one-sided affair that saw Wardlow absolutely decimate CM Punk with his powerbomb symphony. Punk won with a roll-up pin after MJF distracted Wardlow.
While speaking on his podcast Wooooo Nation Uncensored, Ric Flair walked about CM Punk’s match against Wardlow. He criticized the finish of the match and also wasn’t a fan of CM Punk being too generous in the match.
“If you are watching these incredible bumps these guys give each other, and I mean out of this world, and then they use a rollup or a run-in for a finish, it absolutely kills me.
I genuinely believe CM Punk is being over generous. That does not make him a bad guy, that was my style forever too. I just think if he’s going into this big program he doesn’t need to be quite as generous.”
Disco Inferno also recently stated that Wardlow is a bigger babyface than CM Punk. We will have to wait and see how MJF and CM Punk’s feud will progress in the coming weeks.
