Matt Cardona Throws ECW Television Title In The Trash

Cardona and Chelsea Green ‘quit’ GCW during GCW’s Blood on the Hills event last month as well. They would make their return shortly afterwards and since then Matt Cardona got embroiled in a feud with Rhino.

At GCW Most Notorious on January 14, Cardona squared off against Rhino in a singles match. Before the match started, Matt Cardona proclaimed that when he pinned Rhino, he would be the new ECW Television Champion.

After an intense match that featured table spots and belt shots, Matt Cardona ended up winning the match under unceremonious means. it led to him then proclaiming himself as the new ECW Television Champion.

During GCW Say You Will, Cardona and Green made their way to the ring while he held the title and trash can in hand. After cutting a promo explaining his actions and taking a shot at Paul Heyman, Cardona threw the ECW Television Title into the trash can, in a moment reminiscent of Madusa throwing the WWF Women’s Championship in the trash on WCW Nitro.

Cardona then addressed Joey Janela and his opponent on the night, Ricky Morton, by singing a re-worded version of *NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye. Cardona lost the match and attacked Morton afterwards until Janela came out and ran him off.

Cardona is also set to square off against Joey Janela at GCW’s sold-out Hammerstein Ballroom show, The WRLD on GCW, on January 23. We will have to wait and see whether he will defeat Joey Janela or not as the two have been engaged in a very bitter feud in the past couple of weeks.
