Former WWE Superstar Paul Wight used to be known as the Big Show in WWE. He spent over two decades in the company before he decided to take his skills elsewhere. Wight eventually made his way to AEW, much to the surprise of the pro wrestling world.

The backstage environments in WWE and AEW are undoubtedly different. As a few former WWE Superstars have mentioned in the past. Both companies have their own ideals as to how they conduct their work.

Despite his successful career in WWE, Big Show was often made a joke due to Vince McMahon turning him into a heel or babyface randomly at the drop of a hat. It seems Wight himself was not a fan of that either.

Wight also rarely spoke during his early run in WWE and it seems there is a reason for that. While speaking with Wrestling With Freddie, Paul Wight revealed that Vince McMahon didn’t like him cutting promos in WWE.

“For whatever reason, I guess Vince [McMahon] didn’t like the way I did promos. [He] didn’t like the fact that a giant should talk. Whatever the reason was, I didn’t talk that much. I didn’t have promo segments every [Monday Night] Raw. That wasn’t my gig.”

It seems Wight is more than happy working in AEW thanks to the creative environment provided there and he wouldn’t have it any other way. We will have to wait and see what is next in store for Wight in the company.
