William Regal is a true veteran in the world of professional wrestling, who competed all over the world before making his way to WWE. He was one of the creative minds behind NXT and helped flourish the brand before Vince McMahon took over. It seems Ric Flair opened up about his WWE release as well recently.

The company decided to release numerous talents and members of staff right after NXT’s New Year’s Evil last week. This included names such as William Regal, which came as a shock to many.

While speaking on his WOOOOO Nation Uncensored, Ric Flair was asked why William Regal gored fired by WWE last week. Flair stated that it was a horrible thing to do.

“I genuinely believe that it’s a horrible thing. Because it is a business for WWE. In the end, I just do not know the numbers. But, if NXT is not making money, they can’t keep paying people. So I don’t know the answer to that. But I look at the ratings. You know, just like why I’m watching every show I can possible. And also I can talk to you intelligently about these things. But the ratings are everything nowadays. So who knows?”

It was also said that WWE talents are depressed after William Regal was released. William Regal’s contributions to WWE and especially NXT cannot be understated in any way. We will have to wait and see if Regal will make his way to AEW or not as Jim Cornette would certainly love that.
