Mickie James is a true veteran of the pro wrestling world as she was one of the mainstays of WWE’s women’s division during the mid to late 2000s. After being fired by WWE back in April last year, Mickie James made her way to NWA and then Impact Wrestling soon after.

Mickie James would go on to become the Knockouts Champion as well. Mickie James is set to compete at the Women’s Royal Rumble match, in a moment that truly shocked fans.

While speaking on The Angle Podcast, Deonna Purrazzo talked about Mickie James competing in the Women’s Royal Rumble match as the Knockouts Champion. Purrazzo made it clear that she thinks it will be very important for Impact Wrestling as it will generate a lot of buzz.

“I genuinly believe that it’s incredible. I think it’s an incredible opportunity for IMPACT to have new eyes on its product. As you’re aware, WWE does not necessarily have the best reputation for working with others, so the fact that they were willing to do this with Mickie and put over IMPACT as a whole and our Knockouts Championship, is very important for us.

I think that Hard to Kill had even more buzz going in than necessarily we had to begin with, because now WWE fans, who maybe do not know what IMPACT Wrestling is or maybe haven’t watched IMPACT in years are now willing to tune in into like, ‘Hm I wonder what’s gonna happen.’ The buzz factor, and any buzz is good buzz, right?”

WWE and Impact Wrestling managed to work out a deal for Mickie James’ appearance at the Women’s Royal Rumble match. It remains to be seen how James will fare in the match.
